This season, Paraboot unveils a unique collaboration with Pyrenex. With both brands being renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship, this is an opportunity to celebrate their shared role in the golden age of French mountaineering through two unique creations.

For several months, the teams from Paraboot and Pyrenex have been secretly working together in our workshops to reinvent the timeless Audoubert down jacket and the iconic Avoriaz for this collaboration.

Pyrenex and the Audoubert down jacket

The famous mountaineer Louis Audoubert helped open up many routes in the Pyrenees, Pakistan and the Andes. Always assisted by exceptional climbing partners, he ascended the highest summits whilst sharing his mountain experiences.

Later, he took great pride in sharing his love for nature and people through his books, films and lectures.

Following his expeditions in the 70s, he went on to become a technical advisor for Pyrenex, helping to design down jackets and mountaineering equipment.

Founded at the foot of the Pyrenees in 1859, initially as a supplier of bedding products, Pyrenex specialises in producing duck and goose down. The brand quickly diversified to offer down jackets and parkas, including the famous Audoubert down jacket.

Renowned for the quality of its down, Pyrenex combines traditional craftsmanship with a commitment to innovation to provide products that combine comfort with performance.

Now updated for everyday use in extreme cold, this down jacket blends traditional styling with vintage fabric. It boasts an oversized look for a “retro hiking” style.

Made from matt black fabric with green Paraboot lining, with a full grain leather and metal-free crest in a nod to the famous leathers used in the Paraboot collections.

The iconic Paraboot Avoriaz boot

For Paraboot, it all began with the Galibier brand created in 1922. The first Paraboot shoes were designed and manufactured by the trailblazing entrepreneur Rémy-Alexis Richard, who then went on to create the Galibier brand; a range of shoes aimed at mountaineers and explorers.

He developed the brand’s first mountaineering shoes. The biggest names in mountaineering benefited from the company’s French expertise, such as Maurice Herzog, Lionel Terray and René Desmaison, as well as the explorers Paul-Emile Victor and Haroun Tazieff.

Initially designed as an approach shoe, the Avoriaz model remains a classic to this day.

A rugged, traditionally styled boot with notched soles to withstand challenging weather conditions and rough terrain.

Now one of the brand’s classic models, the Avoriaz has been reworked for this collaboration.

A unique version featuring a blend of smooth Suportlo and grained leather and a partially recycled rubber sole. The green/black two-tone laces and the black welt reflect the identity of the two brands.
