This shoe's construction is modelled on a classic Derby. This stitching technique consists of assembling the leather quarters onto the vamp (the front of the shoe), allowing the shoe to maintain its form through the most demanding circumstances.

Goodyear welted construction

110 years of Goodyear construction!

Principle
Goodyear construction is more refined than Norwegian construction, and just as strong. The "Goodyear" seam connects the welt to the upper and the inner sole. Unlike Norwegian stitching, the welt is stitched upside down and turned over, making the Goodyear stitching invisible. Specialised fine stitching connects the welt to the outsole.

History
The Goodyear welt appears around 1865. This technique owes its name to Mr Charles Goodyear Jr, inventor of this sewing machine. Since the beginning, Goodyear stitching is traditionally used for the manufacturing of high-end shoes and often for city use.

Advantages
This solid and flexible mounting technique both makes the shoe waterproof and resoleable. The rendering is finer than the Norwegian construction. From a purely technical point of view, the advantages of the Goodyear welt are comparable to those of the Norwegian welt.

Genuine rubber sole

Our soles and heels are always made with the same vulcanization blends and processes as originally used in the long history of Paraboot.
Rubber develops the best of its physical and mechanical properties, namely comfort, flexibility and resistance to wear, even if the latter also depends heavily on the use and the wearer of the shoes.
Our rubber blends come from France, and are vulcanized on our presses in our Saint Jean de Moirans workshop.

Handmade

From the manufacturing of soles to packaging, running through leather cutting, stitching, assemblying and finishing, no less than 150 manual operations are required to make these shoes. As many steps as in 1908, at the formation of the company!
