This season, Paraboot unveils an exclusive collaboration with the Pyrenex brand. This marks an opportunity for these two houses, both renowned for their exceptional craftsmanship, to celebrate their shared role in the golden age of French mountaineering through two unique creations.
Behind closed doors in our workshops, the Paraboot and Pyrenex teams have been working together for several months to reinvent the timeless Audoubert down jacket and the iconic Avoriaz as part of a collaboration.
Pyrenex and the Audoubert down jacket
A renowned mountaineer, Louis Audoubert has helped pioneer numerous routes on peaks in the Pyrenees, Pakistan, and even the Andes. Always accompanied by exceptional climbing partners, he scales the highest peaks while sharing the authentic spirit of the mountain world.
A man who would later make it a point of honor to share his love of nature and of giving back through his books, films, and lectures.
Following his expeditions in the 1970s, he naturally became a technical advisor for Pyrenex on the design of down jackets and mountaineering gear.
Founded at the foot of the Pyrenees in 1859, Pyrenex began as a supplier of bedding products and went on to specialize in the production of goose- and duck-down comforters. The brand then quickly diversified to offer down jackets and parkas, such as the famous Audoubert down jacket.
Renowned for the quality of its down, Pyrenex combines traditional craftsmanship with a commitment to innovation to offer products that blend comfort and performance.
Now redesigned for everyday wear in extremely cold weather, this down jacket combines authentic styling with vintage fabric. It features a bold, oversized look in the spirit of“retro hiking”style. It’s ideal for braving sub-zero temperatures, whether in the high mountains or downtown.

Matte black fabric, Paraboot green lining, and a full-grain leather and metal-free badge—a nod to the famous leathers used in Paraboot collections.
The Iconic Avoriaz Paraboot
For Paraboot, it all began with the Galibier brand, founded in 1922. At that time, Rémy-Alexis Richard, a daring entrepreneur, passionately designed and crafted his first shoes and created the Galibier brand to provide footwear and gear for mountaineers and explorers.
He then went on to develop the brand’s first mountaineering boots. That is how the company put its French expertise to work for the greatest mountaineers (Maurice Herzog, Lionel Terray, René Desmaison) and explorers (Paul-Emile Victor, Haroun Tazieff).
The Avoriaz model, originally marketed as an “approach shoe,” is an essential part of that legacy. It’s a durable shoe with an authentic style and lugged soles designed to handle harsh weather conditions and rugged terrain.
Now a signature model for the brand, the Avoriaz has been redesigned for this collaboration:
A unique design featuring a combination of smooth and grained Suportlo leather and a sole made partly from recycled rubber. The two-tone green-and-black laces and green welt echo the design elements of both brands.
Find these exclusive designs in select stores (Lyon, Lille, Bordeaux, Paris), on our website, and at Pyrenex retail locations.
