Women's shoes: comfort, style and Paraboot know-how

Mocassin femme Vignony en cuir vernis noir, l’allure Paraboot sur la route.

A pair of women’s shoes isn’t just for walking. Shoes mark a silhouette. They give you confidence. So they’re with you all day long.

At Paraboot, we see footwear as a true companion for life. What’s more, it’s a beautiful, reliable piece of equipment, capable of taking you from one journey to the next, through appointments and evenings out.

Discover the world of Richard-Pontvert women’s footwear: a vision of Paraboot comfort, style and expertise. The right pair of shoes changes your posture, your gait and the confidence you radiate.

For more than a hundred years, Paraboot has been cultivating leather craftsmanship. The brand operates from its workshops in Saint-Jean-de-Moirans, at the foot of the Alps. The idea remains the same: to offer durable women’s footwear. As a result, they are both comfortable and elegant. What’s more, this approach stands in stark contrast to the ephemeral trends of fast-fashion. Boats, women’s booties , derbies, moccasins, women’s sandals or sneakers : each model has its place. They fit naturally into your wardrobe and follow your rhythm, season after season.

Why are women’s shoes essential?

Women’s shoes aren’t just a detail you add to the end of an outfit, almost by reflex. It’s often the shoes that define whether an outfit works or not.

A leather dress shoe gives structure to a suit. Conversely, a sneaker adds a casual touch to suit pants. What’s more, a boat shoe instantly lends a weekend look to a simple pair of jeans.

That’s why at Paraboot, we consider each pair to be the centerpiece of a woman’s wardrobe. It has to look good, but above all it has to be ready to keep pace…

A structuring element for every look

The right shoes are often the key element that sets the tone of an outfit. The choice of shoe defines the final look. You can wear jeans, suit pants or a flowing dress. For example, a black leather dress shoe immediately structures a professional silhouette. However, a sneaker instantly modernizes the outfit.

Trendy women’s shoes are easy to spot at a glance, but at Paraboot, balance is everything. Women’s moccasins, derbies or boat shoes define your identity. Each pair reflects your style and rhythm. What’s more, they illustrate your demand for comfort and quality.

The Paraboot vision: women’s shoes designed to last

At Paraboot, we don’t see footwear as a disposable product. The women’s shoe collections are built around strong lines, revisited classics and exceptional leather, far removed from fashion and fast-fashion..

Each pair is designed to be worn, cared for and sometimes resoled. In this way, our shoes develop their patina over time, rather than wear out. We’re no longer talking about “consuming” pairs of shoes, but about bringing them to life, season after season.

Women’s shoe trends by Paraboot

Trends change fast, but your women’s shoes shouldn’t look outdated after just a few months. At Paraboot, we observe fashion with a sideways glance: seasonal hues, more generous volumes, retro inspirations or those borrowed from the outdoor wardrobe pass through our DNA filter.

How Paraboot interprets trends without giving in to fast-fashion

Every season, the brand observes trends: the return of the solid moccasin, a play on platforms, textured leathers and deep hues. Rather than making them ephemeral pieces, Paraboot translates them into enduring forms.

We also work on finishing touches to feminize our icons. We incorporate cross-over straps on our women’s sandals. What’s more, some of our moccasins feature stitched edges . The Michael model is a good example of this approach, as the uppers can sometimes be covered in cowhair, thus varying the textural contrasts with the seasons.

The aim is to offer women’s shoes that are up to date, but that you’ll still enjoy wearing five years from now. A real alternative to fast-fashion: strong pieces that add character to an outfit without ever going out of style.

Paraboot encourages the purchase of a selection of models. Choose well-constructed pairs. Consequently, avoid buying too many low-priced models that are rarely worn. Instead, build up a few strong pairs. You’ll find it easy to combine them for everyday wear.

Paraboot women’s footwear materials, manufacturing and expertise

Behind every pair of women’s shoes is a material, a gesture and a place. The choice of leathers, tanneries, fittings and soles determines the fit, comfort and longevity of the model.

Origin of leathers and partner tanneries for women’s shoes

The elegance and durability of a pair of Paraboot shoes depend above all on the quality of the materials used. That’s why we pay extreme attention to the selection of leathers, not only for uppers , but also for linings, insoles and outsoles.

To guarantee this excellence, we source from long-standing partners such as Tannerie Haas and Tannerie du Puy. In these renowned firms, the skins are chosen for their “hand” (their feel) and the aesthetic effect sought.

It’s important to note that Paraboot leather comes exclusively from the food industry. No animals are sacrificed specifically for the manufacture of our shoes.

We prefer full-grain leather for our leather women’s shoes. This choice gives the material a natural resistance. As a result, full-grain leather develops a patina over time. As a result, it gradually softens to fit the shape of the foot perfectly.

Smooth, suede, grained leather, cowhair: choosing the right material for your women’s shoes

Smooth leather emphasizes minimalist, structured silhouettes. It emphasizes the shoe’s lines and goes naturally with a suit, straight jeans or a sober dress. Available in a wide selection of models, it’s easy to wear and combine with all your outfits.

Patent leather is distinguished by its shiny effect, which makes it less sensitive to stains and moisture. Its shine adds an extra feminine touch, a must-have for every woman’s wardrobe.

Full-grain leather, softened by mixing hides in a fuller, has a supple feel and a subtly textured appearance. Featured on our iconic models such as the Michael derby, full-grain leather is renowned for its comfort.

Cowhair leather lends a distinctive character to each pair, making each one singular. It’s a unique and unmistakable Paraboot signature.

Deer leather, a truly exceptional leather, is a rare material renowned for its softness and natural breathability. Supple and fine, it brings a high-end finish to our collections.

Suede leather, with its sanded flesh side, is seductive. In fact, its soft feel and warm finish make it ideal for this purpose. It’s ideal for mid-season, provided you waterproof it regularly.

Nubuck leather, with its finely sanded grain, has a very fine, almost powdery texture. What’s more, it’s more resistant than velvet. As a result, it perfects a raw, authentic look.

French manufacturing: Paraboot know-how in Isère

A pair of Paraboot shoes requires over one hundred and fifty manual operations. In our workshops, cutting, stitching, assembly and finishing follow one another. These steps are carried out using techniques handed down and perfected over generations. As a result, handcrafted production ensures precise quality control at every stage. It reinforces the traceability of materials and guarantees genuine reparability. Models are designed to be resealed rather than replaced.

Investing in women’s shoes made in France means supporting a French value chain. Exceptional expertise from the workshop to your feet.

Paraboot rubber soles: grip, comfort and durability

Paraboot shoes, whether for city or winter wear, are distinguished by their exceptional comfort and remarkable longevity, a hallmark of the company for almost a century. This quality is intrinsically linked to their exclusive gum soles.

Document financier historique du Port of Para Brésil origine du nom Paraboot

Made from rubber derived from the latex of the Brazilian rubber tree(Hevea brasiliensis). Our soles play a fundamental role, just like the quality of the leather. They guarantee secure grip on all surfaces. What’s more, they ensure optimum resistance to everyday wear and tear.

The origins of this innovation date back to 1927, when Rémy Richard registered the name Paraboot.

Para” refers to the Amazonian port from which rubber latex is exported.

boot”: refers to the shoe Rémy Richard discovered on a trip to the United States.

Comfort and elegance: the promise kept by Paraboot women’s shoes

You can argue about a nuance or a design detail, but not about how it feels on your feet. At Paraboot, elegance begins with a shoe that feels good from the first to the last step. That’s why we pay so much attention to what you can’t immediately see: the fit, the internal structure and the balance between flexibility and support.

Comfort, elegance, finish: the Paraboot trio

The winning trio for a successful shoe is comfort, elegance and finish. You may hesitate over a color or a detail, but rarely over comfort. A shoe reminds you of this with every step, and even more so when the day is long.

At Paraboot, a successful shoe is based on a well-designed fit, even for women, soft linings combined with shock-absorbing insoles, and clean finishes, with no aggressive seams or rubbing edges.

At Paraboot, the key to a successful shoe is a well-designed fit. We optimize the fit, even for women. What’s more, soft linings and shock-absorbing insoles ensure comfort. As a result, we guarantee clean finishes. No aggressive seams or rubbing edges.

Whether it’s a summer shoe or a more enveloping women’s winter shoe, the idea remains the same: to offer a confident look without compromising on the foot’s well-being.

Paraboot sewn assemblies: Goodyear, Norwegian and Blake sewn

Paraboot’s comfort is largely based on its traditional stitched fittings.

Goodyear stitching

Détail de la fabrication d'une chaussure Paraboot : réalisation du cousu Goodyear à la machine

Goodyear stitching is renowned for its exceptional durability. This technical assembly links the upper, the insole and the welt. As a result, the shoe can be resealed. This extends the life of the shoe almost indefinitely. What’s more, Goodyear stitching is more sober and discreet than Norwegian stitching. It therefore offers a fine elegance. But it also ensures excellent durability and water resistance.

Norwegian sewing

Norwegian stitching is the house’s signature. Paraboot is the world leader in this complex technique. This process attaches the upper to the sole via a welt. As a result, two distinct seams are visible. What’s more, this construction allows the shoe to be resealed. Initially designed for mountain boots. Nevertheless, it guarantees unfailing sturdiness and total waterproofing. Last but not least, its distinctive, authentic look lends character to the brand’s icons.

Le cousu Blake

Blake stitching was invented in 1858 by Leeman Reed Blake, a young employee of the manufacturer Singer. This technique is characterized by a single seam running through the sole. As a result, the shoe is incomparably light and flexible. It’s the preferred choice for our summer models or our women’s moccasins, offering freedom of movement.

These constructions provide stability, support and durability.

Women’s shoes by season: summer and winter

The needs of the foot change with the seasons. In summer, footwear favors lightness, breathability and light colors. Models such as sandals, bare feet, openwork moccasins or unlined derbies (like the Mirabelle model) go perfectly with summer outfits: dresses, shorts or linen pants.

Conversely, when temperatures drop, women’s winter footwear is designed to offer added protection.

They feature comfortable linings and thicker soles for greater resistance and insulation against the cold. High boots, like the Avoriaz model, are particularly suitable.

Maintain your Paraboot women’s shoes to make them last

Taking care of your Paraboot women’s shoes means preserving the very essence of their charm. Extending the life of leather, stabilizing patina and maintaining comfort over time. Leather is a living material. It softens, marks and reacts to humidity and heat.

Adopted on a daily basis, the right gestures will ensure that your shoes maintain the meticulous finish that makes all the difference to your silhouette.

Radiance and nutrition: Care for Paraboot smooth and grained leathers

On smooth, grained, oily, semi-oily or patina leathers, always start by dusting with a polishing brush. Next, apply a cleaning wax evenly with a soft cloth, leave on, then nourish with a small amount of shoe polish using circular movements.

If your pair is mounted with Norwegian or Goodyear stitching, you can reinforce waterproofing by also working the welt with a colorless shoe polish, applied with a shoe polish applicator brush. Finish with a soft bristle brush to bring out the shine, then polish with a glove for a deep, clean finish.

Softness and protection: Paraboot nubuck and velvet care

For nubuck. Start by dusting with the polishing brush, then remove localized dirt with a nubuck eraser. Again, if the pair is Norwegian or Goodyear stitched, the welt can be protected with a colorless shoe polish applied with a shoe polish brush.

Next, spray the entire shoe with a recommended essential oil spray from a distance of about twenty centimetres, then leave to stand. And when you’re on a velvet/suede finish, straighten the pile with a scraper brush. Finally, a waterproofing product applied evenly from time to time helps to limit the absorption of water and stains. And be sure to let it penetrate well before wearing.

On velvet, the logic is even simpler: first dust with the polishing brush, then apply the waterproofing agent all over the shoe. If the pair is Norwegian or Goodyear stitched, reinforce the welt with a colorless shoe polish applied with a small brush applicator. Leave to dry completely, then straighten the pile with a scraper brush to restore a uniform, clean appearance.

Preserving shine: Cleaning Paraboot patent leather

For patent leather and shiny leathers, avoid conventional creams and polishes. Dust with a polishing brush, then clean with Marseille soap and a soft, damp, slightly warm cloth. Rinse gently, allow to air dry, then use a two-tone polishing glove to restore shine without damaging the finish.

Special attention: Paraboot cowhair leather

Cowhair leather requires special care. Because of its fragility, avoid any special brushing and do not wear these shoes in the rain.

For optimum protection, spray moderately with a waterproofing spray. It’s also advisable to prevent pants from rubbing against shoes to prevent premature wear of the hair.

Additional tips: shoe trees, drying, storage and leather soles

Finally, storing your shoes away from direct light and moisture helps preserve colors and materials. We recommend the use of shoe trees made from natural wood, as they help the leather retain its original shape and absorb moisture. For more detailed advice, check out Paraboot’s 6-step shoe care guide.

Finally, shoes with leather soles also require special care. Dust off the soles, apply a cleaning wax with a soft cloth and leave to rest before nourishing the leather with a little shoe polish, using circular movements. After exposure to humidity, dry on edge rather than flat, to avoid prolonged contact with a damp surface.

Taking care of your durable women’s shoes is a simple gesture that respects the material and ensures that Paraboot’s promise of comfort, style and durability lasts.
