Women's Boots: Paraboot's Craftsmanship and Elegance

Bottes femme à lacets Avoriaz Paraboot en cuir écorce et semelle crantée sur la neige.

A must-have in any woman’s wardrobe, women’s boots have stood the test of time to become a true symbol of elegance.

Originally, the boot was designed for working the land, the battlefield, or horseback riding; it protected the leg from the elements.

At Paraboot, we cherish this rich historical heritage while adapting it to your contemporary needs. Our approach combines timeless aesthetics with uncompromising artisanal craftsmanship. Each model reflects a century of expertise from our workshops in Saint-Jean-de-Moirans, at the foot of the Alps.

Finding the perfect pair of boots isn’t just a matter of style—it’s the assurance that you’re getting a sturdy pair of shoes capable of handling every season with ease.

From practical footwear to a fashion icon: the boot revolution

Long confined to men’s wear and practical use, the boot truly won over women’s hearts in the 1960s. With the advent of the miniskirt, the feminine silhouette was reinvented. As legs became more visible, boots naturally emerged as the accessory of empowerment and urban chic.

Today, choosing a pair of Paraboot women’s boots or ankle boots is a meaningful consumer choice. Far removed from the fast-fashion mindset, our designs embody a quest for authenticity and durability.

Outdoor Heritage: The Mountains at the Heart of the City

This DNA is fully expressed in our mountain-inspired designs.

The iconic Avoriaz, with its distinctive lacing and hooks, perfectly embodies this spirit of adventure brought to the city. It features a fascinating historical detail: its “Jannu” sole.

Named after the famous Himalayan peak, this rubber sole was originally designed by our long-standing brand, Galibier, to tackle snow, as a complement to the Makalu soles, which were once reserved for rock climbing.

Urban style and equestrian heritage: elegance at a walk

For those seeking a sleeker look, our workshops craft designs with clean, pure lines that perfectly embody the essence of urban elegance. Styles like the Valdaine enhance the silhouette by drawing on the legacy of the iconic Chelsea boot.

First introduced in the 19th century to make riding a horse easier thanks to its elastic side panels, it has since left the stirrups behind to make its mark on the streets. Its clean lines give the outfit a timeless look.

The Beaumont, for its part, embraces winter sophistication. This distinctive style stands out for its elegant combination of materials, blending the elegance of nubuck with the warmth of a wool collar for a look that’s as cozy as it is sophisticated.

For ultimate versatility—from the office to the weekend—the Clamart and the Milla stand out as excellent choices. Whether it’s the classic straight leg of one or the iconic stitched tabletop of the other, they skillfully blend our manufacturing tradition with decidedly contemporary curves.

How to Choose Women’s Boots Based on Your Daily Routine?

Finding the perfect pair means taking your habits into account. For the office and strictly urban use, opt for clean, simple lines. Soles with subtle treads, such as the Griff profile, pair elegantly with formal attire. On the other hand, for your weekend getaways and walks, opt for more sculpted soles like the Jannu model, which will provide better traction.

Also consider the shape of your foot and calf. A lace-up style allows for a more precise fit around the upper. Seasonality and material selection play a crucial role: lined leather will protect you from the biting cold of January. Finally, consider your daily commute. A high upper elongates your silhouette and protects you from the elements, while the thickness of our rubber sole absorbs shock and keeps your feet dry.

The Exception of Leather: The Promise of a Timeless Patina

The depth of our colors underscores the high standards of our craftsmanship.

Black. The essence of a timeless classic

At the heart of our workshops, black stands out as a natural choice. As undisputed staples of the winter wardrobe, women’s black boots elegantly define the silhouette. This timeless color brings out the best in leather, whether smooth or grained. It transcends fleeting trends to effortlessly complement both a formal office outfit and a casual weekend look.

Bark. The authenticity of deep brown leather

A signature color of our workshop, the bark shade embodies authenticity. This deep brown changes with every step you take: it lightens naturally where it creases and darkens where it’s rubbed, creating a unique patina that’s all your own. It instantly warms up gray flannels and pairs effortlessly with your wardrobe this season.

Coffee. The warmth of a luminous hue

A subtle alternative to traditional browns, the coffee shade catches the light to reveal elegant amber highlights. Featured in particular on our Milla model, this warm shade subtly brightens your outfits on cold winter days.

Fauve. The Legacy of Leather Goods

Lighter than brown, Fauve (Gold) has a cognac-like hue. It’s the quintessential “leather goods” shade that catches the light and develops an amber patina. A true ray of sunshine amid the winter gray.

Gringo Nubuck. The essence of the outdoors

A true invitation to travel, the “Gringo” colorway enhances the raw material. This nubuck leather, with its velvety feel and matte finish, stands out for its rich array of shades and its durability against the elements. It adds a touch of character, reviving our outdoor and mountain heritage. Ideal for adding a bit of edge to an otherwise too-conservative outfit, it pairs perfectly with textured fabrics like corduroy, tweed, or thick woolens.

All these nuances highlight the exceptional quality of our full-grain leathers, carefully sourced from renowned French and European tanneries. Far from merely withstanding the elements, our leather goods actually become more beautiful over time. With regular care, each pair of boots develops a unique patina over the seasons. The richness of brown, nubuck, or deep black leather then serves as the finest testament to the finesse of our craftsmanship in the Isère region.

The Heart of Our Manufactory

Behind every model lies the meticulous craftsmanship of our artisans. The production of a pair of Paraboot boots requires an average of 150 manual steps in our workshops in Isère. From the moment you try them on, the meticulously designed fit respects the foot’s anatomy and showcases the suppleness of our leathers.

The innovation of the vulcanized rubber sole

This commitment to comfort extends to the sole thanks to a groundbreaking innovation. It was in 1926, during a trip to the United States, that our founder, Rémy-Alexis Richard, discovered vulcanized rubber boots. Upon his return, he had the brilliant idea of adapting this material to create his own lugged soles. Even today, Paraboot remains one of the few shoe manufacturers in the world to produce and vulcanize its own rubber soles in-house.

Norwegian stitching: a guarantee that the shoe can be resoled

Historically popular for hiking and work boots, the Norwegian stitch was designed to protect the foot from moisture. Although it is a traditional construction method rather than a fully waterproof technology, this technique securely bonds the upper to the sole using a thick leather welt.

Le principe de fabrication des chaussures cousues Blake, cousues Goodyear et cousues Norvégien consiste à relier la tige — partie supérieure de la chaussure — à la première de montage et à la semelle d’usure par une bande de cuir appelée trépointe.

Your boots are thus able to withstand the rigors of city life and harsh winter weather. More importantly, this construction method ensures that our artisans can fully resole our creations. Choosing a Paraboot design means prioritizing repairability and longevity—and turning your back on fast fashion.

Timeless Elegance for Everyday Wear: Women’s Boots

Authentic and elegant, our designs blend seamlessly with any of your fashion styles. Paired with raw denim, they create a timeless look, adding a touch of character to a feminine silhouette. For a more sophisticated contrast, pair them with dress pants or let them enhance a flowing dress.

When you choose one of our designs, you’re embracing the perfect balance between French refinement, proven durability, and timeless style. In contrast to fleeting trends, each shoe tells the story of our craftsmanship.
