This season, we’ve decided to set up shop in the heart of Catalonia. It’s a region full of character, nestled between land and sea, where, since the late19th century, Catalan artisans have been passing down the art of weaving unique fabrics from one generation to the next.
These striped fabrics, so emblematic of an entire region, have found their way into our dining rooms, kitchens, and outdoor spaces all over the world.
Exceptional craftsmanship that does not go unnoticed and reflects the daily work of our Paraboot artisans, who are committed to preserving time-honored traditions.
Les Toiles du Soleil
And so, nestled at the foot of the Haut-Vallespir slopes, weavers and warpers have been producing these“sanc i or”(blood and gold) fabrics—the Catalan colors—for over 150 years.
Techniques, tools, and machines that make up a precious legacy. They are likely the only ones in France—and perhaps even in Europe—to use traditional looms with Diederichs shuttles to create their woven fabrics.
These rare crafts produce a continuous selvedge that ensures the durability and refined finish of striped fabrics. They also result in high-quality products designed to stand the test of time.
Thanks to these traditional crafts, they are able to produce unique fabrics with original designs, using high-quality threads made from plant fibers and natural materials, which align with their commitment to sustainable development.
Starting with a base of 35 colors and by combining threads of different colors, they create an infinite variety of patterns and stripes of unparalleled richness.
When Michael Dresses in Canvas
After this inspiring journey steeped in history, it was inevitable that we would continue the adventure. Catalan canvas—a natural, breathable, lightweight, and summery fabric… What better way to reinvent our iconic Michael for the summer?
In collaboration with Les Toiles du Soleil, the Paraboot teams set to work in our workshops to create two Michael styles for this summer.
For both women and men, the Michael features the “Rue du Bac”canvas paired with a black rubber sole for a guaranteed summery look. A beautiful story that wraps up just in time to kick off summer!
At Paraboot, we are proud of this collaboration, which allows us to play a major role in preserving the expertise and skills associated with our rare crafts.
